About the role

The Capability Coach works to build and sustain capability and competency across the Bank by using a leadership skillset blended with technical banking specialty. You’ll have the expertise to coach and manage capability for our roles providing regulated financial advice, as well as the wider network who are providing products and services to our customers through great quality customer conversations. 

Working in partnership with key stakeholders from across the Bank, you’ll support leaders to build and maintain the capability of their teams. This includes coaching and supporting leaders to effectively develop their people, ensuring new-to-bank employees receive timely and high-quality onboarding experiences, and helping drive consistency in customer experiences, product delivery, and service standards. You will also provide one on one coaching to support individual growth and performance, and design and deliver targeted training and development activities tailored to specific team or business needs.

This role is a great match for someone with existing experience in providing guidance on financial products and services, and is looking for a new way to apply this expertise and enjoys coaching and supporting those around them. 

The Capability Coach is a Nominated Representative role of The Co-operative Bank, and the successful candidate must therefore understand and champion the responsibilities and requirements of a Nominated Representative in their role. For more on this, please refer to the attached appendix. 

In order to support our people to provide customers with appropriate financial advice and meet the Nominated Representative role requirements, this role needs to hold and maintain a NZ Level 5 Certificate in Financial Services. We’ll support you to attain and maintain your certificate through our designated training provider. 

Due to our ways of working, we are open to considering candidates from throughout the country (aligned to our branch locations) for this role.

To be considered for this, you’ll need the following experience:

  • At least 3 years’ experience in a banking or financial services environment and/or a senior lending position, plus thorough knowledge and understanding of banking products, policies, systems and processes (preferably the Bank’s).
  • Proven experience in training, coaching and developing others; preferably also experience with conducting group and formalised training and facilitation. 
  • Tertiary qualified/working towards a tertiary qualification (or other relevant qualification) is an advantage and desired E.g., NZ Level 5 Certificate in Financial Services (Lending, Insurance, and/or Investment Strands).
