About the Role

We're looking for a Business Analyst to play a key part in future bank initiatives — supporting the strategic goals of the bank's Future Bank Programme.

The Future Bank Programme is transforming how the Co-operative Bank operates, and these initiatives are focused on delivering a more efficient and scalable service model. This means finding smarter ways to deliver service to our customers — automating manual processes, enabling self-service where it makes sense, and freeing up our people for higher-value customer interactions. The digital channels our customers and staff rely on every day are central to this, and this role will support sustaining platform performance and increasing operational efficiency.

You'll take ownership of analysis for initiatives that require a structured, detail-oriented approach. Your work will involve mapping end-to-end processes, identifying legal decision points and controls, and defining clear system-enforced rules alongside business exceptions. The requirements you produce need to be precise enough for developers to build from, and robust enough to ensure the solution is auditable, compliant, and usable.

This role suits someone who thrives with autonomy. You'll be empowered to assess situations, make sound decisions, and drive work forward with confidence. You'll bring technical expertise and a strong understanding of how systems, processes, and compliance intersect — and you'll have the space to put that knowledge to work.

This is a fixed-term position ending 31/05/2028, based at our Wellington Head Office.

You Will Bring

  • Experience as a Business Analyst, ideally in a regulated or compliance-driven environment.
  • A track record of producing requirements that developers can build from — structured, unambiguous, and complete.
  • Technical expertise — you're comfortable working across systems and understanding how they connect.
  • Confidence and autonomy — you assess, decide, and act without needing constant direction.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively with both business and technical colleagues.
  • A collaborative mindset and a passion for continuous improvement.
  • A positive vibe to the team by joining social catch-ups and building great relationships with your teammates.
